In June of 1997, first-time author Steve Alten’s giant prehistoric shark thriller; MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror was released by Bantam-Doubleday (the house that published JAWS). MEG would hit every best-seller list including the NY Times (#19 hardback, #7 audio). Twenty-seven years later, having announced MEG-7: Purgatory would end the series, author Steve Alten gives his loyal fans (the MEGheads) what they have been long asking for – the first and only ever complete Collector’s Edition seven volume set of books. Wrapped in high quality (faux) leather, the artistry of J.S. Earls creating the image of a Megalodon along the spine when all seven volumes are aligned. There are three stunning color combinations available: White on Red, with the pages etched in silver, Crimson on Black, with gold etching, and Ocean-Blue in silver. Each volume will feature one of the novels, the novella’s adding another four-hundred pages of never before published content, appearing in chronological order. Each volume will also hold one of the six graphic comics. There will be several fan appreciation features, with seven signature pages featuring original MEG artwork by artist Tan Ngo… the author personally signing each book. But it is a last minute unexpected bonus that may have already tripled MEG: LEGACY’s value – the author agreeing to write a seven-part memoir detailing his rollercoaster ride-of-a-career – the first-look movie deal with Disney ($1.1 million)) which set off a bidding war among the six biggest publishing house… the winner (Doubleday) flying to the Frankfurt Book Fair where MEG’s foreign rights were gobbled up in twenty languages – Alten’s novel named book of the fair. A year later, Disney’s president was fired, the rights returned, Doubleday unmerciful as they canceled Alten’s second book without notice. MEG: LEGACY will not be sold in stores, only at www.MEGlegacy.com
