A strange signal is received by military listening stations in the Arctic. The source is determined to be from a Russian archipelago in the Barents Sea. The signal however, cannot be fully deciphered and its position located. The British Prime Minister’s son, together with a celebrity naturalist, vanish whilst filming on the archipeligo. Have they been abducted by the Russians? What happened to the two missing men? British Intelligence send an MI6 team, led by Frank Ryder, ex SAS, to the archipeligo to find out and to locate the source of the signal. Once there, the team stumble across a subterranean base equivalent to America’s ‘Area 51’. Here, not only do they find what they are looking for, but also a weapon the Russians are developing that will change the balance of world power, soon to be unleashed. In a desperate bid to escape the archipeligo, Ryder and his team are pursued through rugged mountain terrain by the Russians. In doing so, an unexpected and shocking incident occurs which seriously jeopardizes their survival. Will Ryder escape? Will he be able to prevent the Russians from becoming a world power?
‘Encounter’ is the fourth book in the Frank Ryder series.
