Newly retired deputy Tempe Crabtree and her husband are invited to visit friends, Jonathan and his wife in a 55 plus community in Temecula. Jonathan is a suspect in the murder of one of their neighbors. While investigatin, Tempe meets all those who knew and had some sort of relationship to the victim–a colorful group. Almost from the beginning of the visit, Tempe is also threatened. In the past, Tempe, a Native American, has often received help from the spirit world, and this time the author Erle Stanley Gardner makes an appearance. The Trash Harem is the latest book in the ongoing Deputy Tempe Crabtree series. It was inspired by the author’s visit to a 55 plus community, the richness of the city of Temecula, and what she knew about Erle Stanley Gardner and learned about his connection to the Pechanga Indians.
